James W. Thomasson, Sr.
Chief Executive Officer

James W. Thomasson, Sr.In 1981 Jim Thomasson, Sr. founded Professional Construction Services along with his sons Mark, Matthew and Michael. Now, more than twenty years later, PCS Homes has established itself as one of the regions top residential and commercial construction companies. Jim, Sr. has been instrumental in transforming this small, local company into one that is ranked among the top 400 homebuilder companies in the nation. Much of this success can be attributed to the strong leadership that Jim, Sr. has provided. The company has been under his guidance since 1993 when he assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer.

Having spent many years in the construction industry prior to founding PCS Homes, Jim Thomasson, Sr. brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the company. After serving in the U.S. Army between 1953 and 1956, Jim, Sr. set out on his own as a self-employed contractor. Trading as James W. Thomasson Contractor, he earned a reputation as a quality local builder. In 1969 Jim, Sr. decided to discontinue this business and did so with no outstanding debts. A year later he established Brookfield Builders & Developers, Inc., and has since this time founded many more successful companies. Several of these companies include PCS Homes, MD Homes, LLC, NC Homes, LLC, Holiday Inn Express Kent Island, Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Delmar, and Wood Creek Golf Links.

In addition to his role as CEO of PCS Homes, Jim Thomasson, Sr. plays an active role in the community. He generously lends his time and knowledge to better serve those who are less fortunate. One of the highlights of Jim, Sr.’s community involvement has been his participation in the non-profit organization formerly known as Christmas in April. This organization renovates houses and communities for low-income homeowners nationwide, concentrating on families that have elderly or disabled members. Having devoted much time and effort to this worthy cause, Jim, Sr. served as the President between 1992 and 1997. Today the organization is known as Rebuilding Together and Jim, Sr. still plays an active role as a member of the Board of Directors.

Mark C. Thomasson
Executive Vice President of Development

Mark C. ThomassonThroughout his career, Mark Thomasson has acquired decades of experience in the home building industry while producing thousands of homes in the Mid-Atlantic region. Mark began his employment with Brookfield Builders & Developers, Inc. as a Project Manager from 1978-1981. In 1981 he co-founded PCS Homes with his father James Thomasson, Sr., and his brothers Matthew and Michael.

Mark served as the President of PCS Homes for eleven years before assuming the role of Executive Vice President of Development and Managing Member. As a part of this position, he oversees the Commercial & Development sectors of the company. It is Mark’s responsibility to ensure that every community and commercial property built by PCS Homes has been properly designed. He monitors every step of the design process from the initial planning of the building site to the engineering and surveying of the land.

In addition to his leadership role with PCS Homes, Mark is presently on the Board of Directors for Business Queen Anne’s and the Oyster Cove Boat Basin to promote economic growth and business in Queen Anne’s County, and remains committed to public service in his private life.

Michael J. Thomasson
Senior Executive Vice President of Land Acquisition and Financing

Michael J. ThomassonBeginning his construction career in 1979 as a surveyor, Michael Thomasson brings a vast array of knowledge and experience to the company. In 1981 he formed PCS Homes with his brothers Mark and Matthew and his father James Thomasson, Sr. For the seven years that followed, Michael served as the General Manager for Mandrin Homes, only to return to PCS Homes in 1991.

Michael returned to PCS Homes with extensive experience in development and land acquisition. Since 1991, Michael has been directly responsible as the Senior Executive Vice President for the Land Acquisition and Financing divisions of MD Homes, LLC and NC Homes, LLC as well as a Managing Member of PCS Homes. In 2000, Michael also helped in the establishment PCS Commercial, creating long term holdings for the company. Some of the key projects that resulted from this company growth are two Holiday Inns and approximately 130,000 square feet of commercial space.

In addition to his affiliation with the family business, Michael has spent time in community as a college instructor. From 1990-1996 he taught continuing education classes at Anne Arundel Community college to adults interested in construction. Michael’s involvement in community affairs extends beyond the classroom, and presently he is member of the Building Code Violation Review Board for Anne Arundel County, Maryland and is also a licensed contractor in the state of North Carolina.

Matthew B. Thomasson
Executive Vice President of Construction

Matthew B. ThomassonMatt Thomasson, along with his brothers Michael and Mark, and father James Thomasson, Sr., helped establish PCS Homes in 1981. For twelve years Matt served as the Vice President of Production for the company. Then, in 1993 he assumed the role of Executive Vice President of Construction & Managing Member and is currently head of the Residential Production Department for the company.

Today, Matt is responsible for the home building process at PCS Homes, overseeing each step of construction. He has implemented efficient and cost effective systems to ensure quality workmanship for the best price on a dependable schedule. His strong background and interest in production enables PCS Homes to be an industry leader in home building operations. Throughout his career, Matt has produced thousands of homes for satisfied customers in the Mid-Atlantic region.

James W. Thomasson, Jr.
President

James W. ThomassonJim Thomasson, Jr. brings over 20 years of experience in the construction industry to PCS Homes. His knowledge and experience makes him an invaluable asset to the company. Jim, Jr. began his career with PCS Homes in 1986 as the Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, serving the company in a variety of ways.

Seven years later he was named President and Managing Member as well as the head of Sales and Administration. Jim, Jr. is responsible for developing strategies to lead the company into the future and promote its continued success. He is also the overseer of company-wide operations, ensuring that all facets of the company are working towards the goal of quality and value.

Jim, Jr. brings a well balanced combination of hands-on experience and formal education to PCS Homes. In 1985, Jim, Jr. graduated from Salisbury University with a B.S. in Business. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he continued on to Loyola College, graduating with an M.B.A. in 1991.

Cynthia L. Thomasson
Executive Vice President of the Purchasing Department

Cynthia L. ThomassonCindy Thomasson joined PCS Homes as an Estimator in 1991. A few years later she was named Executive Vice President of the Purchasing Department. It is Cindy’s responsibility to make sure that all homes built by PCS Homes uphold the company’s standards for quality and value. She oversees the selection of materials from PCS Homes’ trade partners, while ensuring that the products are installed in a timely and accurate fashion and at the best price possible.

Outside of her responsibilities with PCS Homes, Cindy has become an active member of the community. She has been on the Board of Directors since 1993 for Rebuilding Together, formerly known as Christmas in April. Frequently she volunteers her time and donates materials on behalf of PCS Homes to assist the charitable organization in renovating houses for low-income homeowners. Cindy was also the Lieutenant at the Woodlawn Beach Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland from 1995-2001. She is a life-long member of this fire department and over the years she has received numerous certificates of achievement for her outstanding dedication and performance to this organization.

Cindy’s construction experience is supplemented by her formal education. She graduated from North Carolina State with a degree in Business Communications. She also studied architecture in England with the University of Maryland Graduate Summer Program in 1990. Cindy’s strong educational background coupled with her years of construction experience has made her an integral member of the PCS Homes team.
